Writing can be a lonely journey.
There are moments when the words come easily and moments when every sentence feels uncertain. Between the first idea and the finished book, every writer needs encouragement, guidance, and a community that understands the journey.
That is why The Write Scene was created.
We called it The Write Scene because writing may happen in solitude, but a writing life should not. Every writer needs a space—a scene—where they can find their tribe, learn from others, share their journey, and continue to grow.
The Write Scene is a literary platform and community for writers at every stage of their journey—whether you are beginning your first manuscript, working towards publication, or looking to build a meaningful career as an author.
Through workshops, retreats, mentorship, publishing guidance, literary events, and curated resources, we bring together writers and industry professionals to create opportunities for learning, connection, and growth.
Meet the Founder
The Write Scene was founded by Deeba Salim Irfan —an award-winning author, poet, literary curator, and mentor. Over the years, she has created platforms that connect writers with literary agents, publishers, editors, and readers through workshops, retreats, and festivals.
Having experienced the writing journey herself, Deeba understands both the excitement and uncertainty that come with bringing a story to life. Like many writers, she knows the questions that arise along the way—How do you complete a manuscript? How do you navigate publishing? Where do you find the right guidance and support?
Those questions eventually became the foundation of The Write Scene.
What began as a platform to support aspiring writers has grown into a literary community that brings together writers, industry professionals, and storytellers through workshops, mentorship programmes, retreats, publishing initiatives, and literary events.
Deeba believes every writer’s journey is unique. There is no single formula for becoming an author, but every writer deserves access to knowledge, encouragement, and a community that helps them move forward.
Her vision for The Write Scene is to create a space where writers feel inspired, supported, and empowered—not only to complete their stories, but to build a meaningful writing life.
